ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Petrus de Klerk
Petrus immigrated from South Africa to Australia in 2008 with his family. He has been married to his lovely wife Millanie for 33 years, and they have two children. He played provincial tennis and is a huge supporter of the South African Rugby team, the Springboks.
Petrus is an honest and passionate leader and a great public speaker.
Petrus has a real love for children, and he devotes himself to inspire them to reach their full potential in this life through teaching, sport, games, and fun. During his career as a primary school teacher in Australia, Petrus became the author of his first book Perfect Kingdom. As he continued his writing, a friend made an interesting comment. ‘Petrus, you can be so funny – why don’t you write a children’s book?’
Petrus took this on board, and ventured into becoming a children’s book author. His first book Terence the Turkey was published in 2019. Then he produced both Terence in Africa, as well as Terence in Townsville in 2020. There are 3 new books coming in 2023: Terence in New Zealand, Terence in the Army, and Terence and the Rulers of Ramkabush’.
The idea of a handsome turkey with human traits, and who lives on a farm near Townsville, was very random. Petrus told his stories to his students and they loved it. He didn’t need any more confirmation to start writing – and now it seems that he’s not going to stop!
Petrus’ stories are funny, with most ideas originating from personal life experiences, even from his young days living on a farm in South Africa. Every chapter in all the books includes a fun sheet with life lessons, Bible scriptures, fun quizzes, and fun facts.
